Judging

Why Judge?

If you have judged in the past, or are considering judging a tournament this year, Thank You !  We are happy that you are making this commitment to our Speech and Debate team and to your student.

Why do we need you?  Each school competing in a tournament is obligated to provide a specified number of judges based on the total number of entries from that school.  Stow-Munroe Falls High School has a very large Speech and Debate team, so our judging need is also large.

  • Ranking The Students (an example)
On your ballot you will rank the students from #1 - #6 based on their skill, using the suggested judging guidelines (see bleow).    #1 is the best speaker.

Use this handy tool to help you rank the speakers

 * After the first speaker, rank them with a 1 in the first box on the left.
 * After the second speaker, move over one column and rank them as to which is first (1) or second (2).
 * After each speaker re-rank them moving one column to the right each time.
 * After the final speaker, your rankings will reveal the finishing order.

*See attachments at the bottom of this page for a copy of this ranking sheet you can download and print
