"Shadowing" involves going to the rounds with one of our seasoned judges and watching what he/she does - like how to score students and how to keep track of time using a stopwatch.  You also can look over the judge's sheet so you are familiar with the form.  Your child will get lettering points every time you judge (that includes if you shadow as well).

Generally, when you judge, you need to arrive at the tournament school by 7:45am.  Concessions are provided, but packing a lunch or snacks might be a good idea.  Sometimes judges eat for free and sometimes they don't....and sometimes the line for food is very long!

If you have a question about judging, I have judged many years and may be able to help you.  Also, consider carpooling!  The team has a Facebook page where carpooling can be arranged amongst yourselves, or I can help you get in touch with other judges. 

One last thing, on the Thursday before the tournament, I will send an email out to those of you who are judging.  The email will have a complete judges list as well as directions to the school.  There also may be additional instructions.
